Mrs. Johnston is originally from Glen Burnie, Maryland and holds a Bachelor's of Science in Music Education from West Virginia Institute of Technology, a Master's in Music Performance/Instrumental Conducting, and an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Austin Peay State University. Since 1986, she has taught at Trap Hill Middle School in Surveyor, West Virginia; in Clarksville, Tennessee at Greenwood Middle School (89/90), and at Northeast Middle School from 1990-95. Since 1995, she has served in the position of Director of Instrumental Music at Clarksville High School, in Clarksville, Tennessee. Mrs. Johnston is a member of NEA, TEA, MENC, TMEA, TBA, MTSBOA, GMA, and CMCEA. The CMA's chose Mrs. Johnston as one of 30 Music Teachers of Excellence in the nation for 2019.
